Amazonia, Nature's Paradise

We explore Brazil's Amazon region - one of the earth's most precious areas and home to one third of the world's species. The landscape, plants and animals. The rivers and fish. The indigenous tribes and their beliefs. The Amazon, which drains 40% of South America, is the world's largest river with a flow volume greater than the next top 10 rivers combined and it provides 20% of all the water flowing into the world's oceans. Our theme is a reminder of the crucial part Amazonia plays in the earth's climate.

Ala Arengueiros

The Bromeliads - one of Brazils most exotic plants. The costume was designed by our highlight Betina in recognition of the work on Bromeliads at Kew Gardens (featured in the Weekend Guardian) carried out by one of our members, Marcelo Sellaro.
