Paraiso School of Samba
Estácio de Sá updated: Fri 25 May 07
Estácio de Sá

Estácio de Sá is Paraiso's godmother. Their bateria is led by Mestre Esteves, who is our founder and also our mestre.

The year 2007 saw Estácio de Sá's brief return to the Grupo Especial and some major publicity in the UK.

Estácio de Sá was formed from Deixa Falar founded in April 1926, the first samba school ... in fact they coined the name 'samba school'.

Our mestre, Esteves, joined Estácio de Sá as a young boy. He took over the the position of Diretor de Bateria in 1994 and led them to triumph in the Rio carnival parade, taking the coveted first place in the top group - Grupo Especial.
