Paraiso at Notting Hill Carnival
Paraiso's parade - with around 250 in costume - celebrates 2010 as the 200th anniversary of the start of the struggle for independence of Latin American countries.
We celebrate heroes such as Simón Bolívar, José de San Martín, Bernardo O'Higgins and Joaquim José da Silva Xavier (Tiradentes).
But we also recognise Boudicca, Wellington and Nelson who fought for British independence without forgetting Ghandi who fought by peaceful means for independence from Britain.
