Paraiso School of Samba is launched

webpage updated: Thu 11 Mar 10

Tuesday 23 April 2002

Looks of disbelief were commonplace on the faces of those who attended the launch party for London's new Paraiso School of Samba at Bar Lorca in Brixton. We can only imagine that they were overwhelmed to be finally witnessing the "real thing" happening right here in London Town. The evening was a huge success and will be talked about for a while yet.

Following an emotional introductory speech by our President Mestre Esteves, the costumes were presented by Henrique and Ale.

They were impressive - colourful, well-made and depicting accurately the imaginative designs of our Carnavalesco. Francesca showed us the elegance of the Baiana dress, Maryann shone out in the Ala Brazil costume, Jean teased us with his sexy moves in the Ala Xingu costume and Howard looked noble in our bateria costume.
