PARAISO - CHAMPIONS OF NOTTING HILL 2010

Paraiso were judged Best Large Adult Band and Best Samba Band in the official results published on 23 September by LNHCL, the carnival organisers.
Rio de Janeiro stars Wantuir Tavares (puxador of GRES Grande Rio), Mestre Esteves and Ana Paula Evangelista all took part in our parade.

With our spectacular Boudicca & Nelson floats, the crowds just couldn't resist the excitement of the bateria and dancers - so they just danced along with us!

"wow..absolutely fantastic!" was the BBC's summary of Paraiso's parade and float for the College of Medicine

Paraiso paraded around Nottingham City Centre and performed live on stage in Old Market Square in this ArtReach event.

Hackney One Carnival gets better every year and Paraiso put on a great parade with 50 bateria and dancers, musicians and float.

Paraiso supported youth samba group União da Mocidade in their parade at Carnaval del Pueblo who came first in the carnival competition and received a wonderful trophy.

Paraiso presented a full day of events at the Festival Hall on 21 August followed by a night of samba featuring Wantuir and Mestre Esteves on 28 August

Liverpool 3rd Samba Carnival
17 July 

Paraiso joined other UK samba groups for Liverpool's the 3rd Annual Samba Carnival organised by Liverpool School of Samba.

Bielefeld Carnival der Kulturen 2010

Paraiso bateria and dancers thrilled the 10,000 crowd at a stage performance in Ravensberger Park following our carnival parade in Bielefeld Germany.

Luton Carnival 2010 - Samba meets Steelpan

Paraiso brought Rio rhythms to Luton for another great day - and still found the energy to astonish the audience at Samba meets Steelpan at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts

Leila crowned Queen of the Bateria

This year's competition held at Cargo was one of the most spectacular ever. There was intense competition but Leila's exceptional skill & elegance won the day.

Farewell Tia Alice

Tia Alice, prominent and much loved figure of GRES Mangueira, died in April. Tia Alice founded CAMP Mangueira, an organisation building citizenship through education for young people in the Mangueira area. She was Henrique's mentor and 'grandmum' and is much missed.
